Our Story
The Heartland Horse was first published in April, 1994 as The Southwest HorseTrader. The name was later changed to The Heartland HorseTrader and recently to The Heartland Horse. Created with a borrowed home computer and the old page "paste-up" process, I introduced the publication in an effort to provide information, education and entertainment focusing on horse enthusiasts in Oklahoma and the surrounding states.
26+ years ago I found a niche market with small horse related business and local event promotions. Now in 2020, social media rules that niche. Add in the the affects of the pandemic, and printed copies of The Heartland Horse will no longer be available. This was a very tough decision, but times have changed. |
I'm not sure what I'll be able to continue at this point, but am exploring ways to keep something digital, and will try my best to keep something for those who still like to "hold it in their hands" to read. God bless you all and thank you to so many who have helped along the way with articles, photos, distribution, support with advertising and subscriptions - it's been a great ride!" ~ Leigh Ann Matthews Editor/Publisher |
